The LMC hope everyone is safe
and well.

30th May 2020

When the lockdown is eased
and Clubs are allowed to reopen,
decisions will have to be made
on how we proceed.

In the near future we will be
asking Captains to vote on the
options we will put to them.

Below are problems we may
encounter with some options:-

1) Will we have lost any Clubs
because of the crisis, if so
it will have an impact on our
forward planning.

2) Older players some with
underlying health problems
may be unwilling to play, this
may cause some Clubs to be
unable to field teams.

3) If we have any team/teams not
able to play in the summer months
it would not be possible to fairly
complete the fixtures before the
new season starts.

4) Bearing the above points in
mind below are some options
being considered.

a) Restart current season late
Sept/early Oct, 8 weeks will be
needed to play these games with
extra week to produce new fixtures.
To then play a new season over
15 weeks with each team playing
the others only once.
This would enable both current and
new season to be completed under
conditions agreed from the start.
It would also have a possible 6
weeks built in as a buffer to cover
any further delays caused by
current crisis

b) To let the match Secretary apply
the average home/away scores to
the outstanding games for each team.
This will produce Final tables and
let these decide prize money,
promotion and relegation issues
allowing the new season to start
as normal.

c) Complete fixtures before start
of a full 20/21 season, the games
will need to begin no later than
28th July 2020 preferably earlier.
because eight weeks are needed to
complete games with one week to
produce new fixtures.

d) This years Singles/Doubles will
easily be completed at the start
of the new one

It is not going to be straight
forward for everything to be
resolved amicably but I am sure
we will come to the right
decisions.

Match Secretary

NEW RULE ON CANCELATION OF MATCHES.

Fixtures can only be cancelled for the following reasons:- Closure of Club, Fire or Water damage to Club tables or for a Clubs AGM.

Work, Football, Illness or any Social Event are not bona fide reasons to cancel, even though it will mean playing short.

The penalties for cancelling a game will be 10 points awarded to opponents and 10 points deducted from the team who cancelled who will also receive a £5.00 fine.

The Match Secretary or League Secretary must be contacted when wanting to cancel a match, they will decide if reason is valid.

If in their opinion a valid reason has been given then it will be reported back to the Committee and Delegates at the next meeting.

Their decision will decide appropriate action and will be final ie Game rescheduled or rule to be enforced.

Teams who have a particular game that needs rearranging, can try to play before the season starts or use the week before the Christmas break, providing opponents agree to do so.

NO GAMES TO BE PLAYED AFTER LAST FIXTURES
